One of the most popular features presented by the 2010 Navigator is the powered liftgate, a feature the Chevrolet Tahoe had, but lost. You simply push a button on the inside of the cab, or on your key fob, and in your liftgate automatically opens and closes. Loading luggage, groceries and more becomes a simplistic procedure that used to be cumbersome. The more you explore your Lincoln Navigator, the more you see just how thoughtful the engineers were throughout their design process.

The 2010 Navigator from Lincoln is bursting with ready power and the ability to get you where you need to go safely and in fantastic style. The 5.4L 310hp 365 lb-ft SOHC V8 engine works in conjunction with a six-speed automatic transmission to deliver far more than adequate strength to all of your traveling. It’s a clean burning engine as well. Hydrocarbon emissions are reduced by 42 percent. Smog-creating emissions are lessened by 55 percent and NO2 emissions are reduced by a minimum of 65 percent.

All of that clean engine power is complemented nicely with the Lincoln class-exclusive AdvanceTrac Roll Stability Control system. The RSC system electronically enhances brake-based vehicle stability with a constantly operating sensor that determines the current role rate probabilities. It measures the probability that the vehicle is going to roll over 100 times per second. It works in conjunction with the Lincoln (ABS) anti-Lock braking system, the (ETC) electronic traction control system and the standard (ESC) electronic stability control system in order to keep you optimally safe at all times.

Lincoln marque, and it had a list price of $10,000 - the same as that year’s Rolls-Royce. In 1958, the Edsel division merged with Lincoln-Mercury, becoming the Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln division until the Edsel was discontinued in 1960. Meanwhile, the Continental became Lincoln’s flagship model until 1981, when the Town Car, formerly the Lincoln’s top trim level, became its own model, and usurped the role.

Until 1998, Lincoln remained a top-selling luxury brand in the United States, helped along by the amazingly successful Navigator SUV, and re-designed Continentals and Town Cars. From 1998 to 2002, it was part of Ford’s Premier Automotive Group, but it was pulled out when Ford decided to separate its import and domestic marques. Since then, the company has lagged behind Japanese, European, and American competitors, in part because of a lack of new models.

That same year, however, Eugene T. “Bob” Gregorie began designing the car that would eventually become the Continental. It started as a one-off project for Edsel Ford, who wanted a European-style car for Florida vacations - something smaller and spiffier than the boxy designs his father’s company was known for.

Introduced for the 1936 model year, the sporty Zephyr, which featured a 1.8 liter V12, was so successful it almost became a brand name, and it was also Gregorie’s inspiration, because what he did was to section a 1938 Zephyr Coupe about four inches, allowing most of the existing dies and tooling to be retained, and adding the distinctive vertically-mounted spare tire. This became the Continental, and by the time it ended production in 1948, more than 5300 of them had been built, almost entirely by hand. The original Zephyr stopped production in 1942, and was never revived.

Cadillac, formed the Lincoln Motor Company during World War I, in order to build Liberty aircraft engines. It was not until after the war that the factories were redesigned for car manufacturing.
During the transition from planes to autos, the company had severe financial issues, and in 1922 it was purchased by the Ford Motor Company, in a sort of financial act of revenge by Ford, who had been forced out of his second company by a group of investors led by Leland. (Ironically, Ford’s originally company, Cadillac, would eventually be purchased by GM, and become Lincoln’s chief rival.) Alongside Cadillac and Duesenberg, Lincoln became one of America’s top-selling luxury brands.

The EcoBoost classification implies that the MKT is fitted with a fuel-saving 3.5L V6 engine that cranks out 355 horsepower at 5700 rpm. The standard 3.7L 24V Duratec V6 engine is slightly less efficient in terms of fuel economy, but still delivers an awesome amount of ready power. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed SelectShift transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The 2010 MKT is front-wheel driven.

Lincoln is synonymous with luxury and the MKT tops the line. One of the most noticeable features on the MKT is the huge Panoramic Vista roof. Everyone inside is treated to spacious views of the sky or city lights at all times. There is an optional power feature that allows the entire glass to be retracted as well. While the front seats come with standard heating and cooling, the rear seats are offered with these features optionally. The versatile seating configuration is also one-of-a-kind, offering the ability to fold down flat either one or both rear seating rows. Fold down the first rear seating row to maximize space for back passengers as they enjoy leather captain’s chairs. Fold them all down to create a cavernous cargo area.

The available Active Park Assist feature uses ultrasonic radar sensors to automatically detect the amount of space available for parallel parking. With just a few button pushes, your 2010 MKT from Lincoln will easily park itself for you. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive System automatically delivers more power to the wheels with the most traction whenever wheelslip is detected in adverse weather conditions. And the BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross Traffic Alert gives both visual and audio signals whenever there is a vehicle in your blind spot or whenever there are vehicles approaching in either lane as you are backing into traffic.

The Lincoln MKT for 2009 also treats you to the voice-activated Navigation System with SIRIUS Travel Link - a system that gets you where you’re going with real-time traffic and weather updates. The screen is huge, full-colored and displays bird’s-eye turn by turn voiced instructions to maximize the ease of your navigational needs. It also provides area-specific movie times, sports scores and more.

The list of standard features, safety and otherwise, is far too lengthy to list, but be assured that Lincoln has made it very impressive. The 2010 Lincoln MKT enters the new decade with a crossover vehicle that combines more than what seems possible. Every possibility for your traveling comfort and indulgence has been seamlessly incorporated. Pricing has been kept at a very respectable range and presents incredible value. Definitely allow yourself the privilege of experiencing the new MKT soon.

MKX is an example of the attention to your comfort that makes this luxury SUV a classic. MKX is powerfully energized with a 3.5L Duratek V6 engine which delivers 265hp and 250lb-ft of torque. Expect smooth riding performance from the standard 6-speed automatic transmission as well.

Engineered for absolute dominance over extraneous sound, the MKX also is attuned to your voice, with SYNC integration enabling voice control over most of the Blue Tooth and MP3 functions in the vehicle. MKX remembers how you like your seat positioned and maintains close control of the seating temperature. With 31.8 cu-ft of storage with seats in the upright position or 69 cu-ft of storage with the rear seat folded down, the vehicle is surprisingly versatile.

Expect a comprehensive safety system in the Lincoln MKX, with integration of airbags, rollover protection, and generous crumple zones to prevent collision forces from intruding into the passenger area. Channeling collision forces away from passenger areas is the job of MKX’s side impact reinforced doors and panels. Side and rear impact crash tests earned the Lincoln MKX a “good” in those categories.

The flowing style lines that define the vehicle’s surface frame an unforgettable front grille. The aggressive stance of the MKX is emphasized by its wide athletic physique. The rear passengers are afforded a rare luxury, visibility. The panoramic roof is thrilling to experience, with its ability to be opened wide to let the outside into the vehicle. Convenience only matters if it’s useful, and the motorized liftgate is a perfect example. With the push of a button, open or close the rear of the vehicle. A series of LED lights around the 2008 Lincoln MKX liftgate alert one that the process is in action.

With a wealth of amenities, the MKX has a leg up on the Lexus RX350 and other members of the competition. Its safety additions are both practical and technologically advanced. However, some potential buyers could be disappointed with the lack of drivetrain options, and the price of the MKX is a bit higher than the comparables on the market as well. Nevertheless, this 2009 Lincoln is customizable with accessories, exterior colors, and techie gadgets.

Under the hood, the Lincoln MKX is fitted with a 265 horsepower 3.5L V6. Both the front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive trims come standard with this engine selection. Both also feature a six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Consumers might be put off by the MKX’s lack of engine options, but the 17 city MPG and 24 highway MPG on the FWD trim more than make up for the disappointment. Also, with 250-lbs per foot of torque, the MKX is more powerful than many mid-size SUVs. Four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, and a tire pressure monitoring system are included as well. The tire pressure monitoring system features a digital readout in the instrument cluster that alerts drivers if a tire has too much or too little pressure.

Inside, the 2009 MKX is stocked with refined additions like wood and nickel accents, leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a remote keyless entry system with a driver’s side keypad. The auto-dimming rearview mirror will automatically adjust as lights hit the glass so that drivers are not distracted by a glare, and the keypad makes fumbling for keys in the dark a thing of the past. Also included with the MKX are heated and cooled front seats and dual-zone electronic automatic temperature controls. The temperature controls allow the driver and front passenger to each determine their most comfortable temperatures independently. Features that can be added to the Lincoln MKX include a voice-activated navigation unit, heated rear seats, and a premium sound system with six-disc in-dash CD changer.

In general, the 2009 Lincoln MKX is well worth the money at $37,335. However, some might think that the navigation unit and premium audio system should be included for that amount of money. Solid safety features and an elegantly styled exterior make the 2009 MKX a perfect choice for individuals with small children that want to protect their precious cargo but not look like a mother’s taxi service.

The name for this model is different from previous ones used for Lincoln models in that is was the first one to use a letter-and-number combination, as opposed to a word name. The MKX is a similar vehicle to the Ford Edge, although it has been modified slightly. The MKX is constructed in a unibody manner, as opposed to a body-on-frame model like the Lincoln Aviator was. The MKX is manufactured at Ford’s Oakville Assembly plant in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It is the first Lincoln vehicle built in that country since 1936.

The name “MLX” was chosen for the vehicle shortly before the North American International Auto Show held in 2006. At that point, MKX was being pronounced “Mark-X” but the name didn’t catch on with the public or with dealers. In fact, some retailers refused to refer to the SUV by that name during training sessions for sales representatives offered by the Company. Ford did use this pronunciation (”Mark Ex”) in the first half of 2006, but in July of that year started referring to it as the “Em-Kay-Ex”).

As a result of the change, the Company was named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by Honda. The reason for the action started in January 2006 was that “MKX” was too close to the name of the Acura MDX offered by the Japanese car maker. The matter never made it to trial and was settled out of court.

The internal code name for the MKX was the U388. This vehicle came equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine, which is capable of producing 265 hp. The Lincoln MKZ and the Ford Edge also use the same type of engine. The MKX is outfitted with an automatic transmission (six speed) that was developed in partnership with General Motors. The vehicle gets 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

The MKX was updated for the 2008 model year. It now shows Lincoln badges near the front doors. Customers can choose to have heated rear seats and/or a Vista Roof as an option on the MKX. This vehicle has been referred to as “one of the luxurious crossovers on the market.” This luxury comes at a price. If you would like to own a Lincoln MKX, you will be looking at spending at least $35,000 for the privilege.
