The Lincoln MKZ uses genuine materials, including real wood, high-quality leather, satin nickel and chromed trim. White electro-luminescent lighting illuminates the round, chrome-ringed gauges, complementing the interior’s white lighting, which uses white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to backlight controls and switches at night.

The instrument panel features a horizontal band of contrasting trim in either wood or satin nickel, which gives the interior a more “technical” appearance. When equipped with wood, interior choices are: Dark Charcoal or Light Stone with Ebony wood or Sand with Figured Maple wood.

“The figured maple gives the interior a fresh and exciting look,” says Peter Horbury, executive director, North American Design. “The dark ebony is classic elegance for a traditional sense of luxury. The satin nickel, with its lightly raised ribbing, is technical and modern. We were able to establish three completely different ambient settings through use of these materials.”

The Lincoln MKZ is designed for comfort, too, with more than three feet of rear-passenger legroom. The spacious feel of the cabin was achieved by stretching the width of the base architecture by 30 millimeters and the wheelbase by 55 millimeters.

CTA uses the BLIS radar sensors to alert the driver of approaching traffic while in reverse and backing out of a parking spot. The CTA tracks up to 65 feet on either side of the vehicle and warns the driver through both audible and visual alerts.

In addition to this new technology for mid-size sedans, Lincoln MKZ offers SYNC, Next-Generation Voice-Activated Navigation, keyless entry, EasyFuel capless fuel filler, THX-branded audio and adaptive HID headlamps.

The new MKZ also features Lincoln signature design elements, including the split-wing grille and thinner wraparound head lamps for a wider, sportier look. Its chamfered front fascia also shares a family resemblance with the Lincoln MKS, with a sculpted hood and ridges flowing into the A-pillar. In the rear, the Lincoln MKZ features a new decklid with wider LED taillamps accentuating the width of the car and separated by the Lincoln star.

The Lincoln MKZ’s presence is enhanced by 17-inch aluminum wheels, available 17-inch chrome wheels, and available 18-inch polished aluminum wheels, which are included in the Sport Appearance Package with sport-tuned suspension.

Inside, MKZ’s cabin reflects an even more upscale look featuring genuine aluminum and wood depending on the trim package, an all-new instrument panel, detailed touches including new welcome lighting, chimes, tuxedo stitching on luxury leather seats and Bridge of Weir leather.

“Customer demand for Lincoln’s mid-size luxury sedan has exceeded our expectations,” says Al Giombetti, president, Ford, Lincoln Mercury Marketing and Sales. “We have taken a brand-new, well-received car and significantly improved it to draw a new generation of customers to the Lincoln brand.” Lincoln Zephyr has become an immediate sales success. “Judging by reaction in the showroom, customers are clearly ready for an American entry-level luxury sedan,” Giombetti says.

Many of Ford’s current models are such high quality that they are borderline luxury vehicles, and to make Lincoln a true luxury brand it will require much higher standards and quality. For instance the redesigned Ford Taurus even has luxury features like large wheels, active park assist, and others. The Taurus was designed to look like the Audi A7, but other Lincoln models are not quite on par yet. The latest Lincoln models have not been sub par by any means, they just have not been quite on the level of other luxury brands like BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes, and Ford must spend much time designing new Lincoln models to be more comparable to these brands.

Some people actually care about animals. You know the animals that were here first..With h so many materialistic people out there who have to have bigger house than anyone else where do you think these animals will go ? Coyote or dog believe me some of us do care.

I believe that the city should conduct a full investigation as to the response time involved in this incidence. I believe that a shorter response time may have saved the coyotes life. Next time it could be your pet dog or cat. I cant believe your actually reading this BS, go watch some cartoons.

The bestselling car in Lincoln’s history was developed by a designer named Eugene T. “Bob” Gregorie. Gregorie was designing a car for Edsel Ford who wanted a sleeker vehicle more in line with European style cars. The Lincoln Zephyr was the result and was offered for the 1936 model year. Sales skyrocketed its first year on market and sales for Ford increased by 9 times what it had done the previous year. This was the car that would eventually become the Lincoln Continental, one of the most important cars in the history of Lincoln. The car was so successful that it was nearly used as a brand name by itself. The advent of World War Two ended production of the popular Zephyr when Ford converted many of its factories to war work. The Continental which would go on to become so famous was based on mostly completely of the Zephyr.

Lincoln has also occupied a prominent place in history by providing many of the vehicles that would be used as official state vehicles for presidents of the United States. The first Lincoln vehicle to be used in this capacity was a 1939 Lincoln V12 used by Franklin D. Roosevelt. The limousine in use on that fateful day in Dallas in November 1963 was also a Lincoln. It is currently on display at the Henry Ford Museum. Lincoln vehicles have also been used by Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and Bush.

Once Ford acquired the company, body style changes were introduced and the price was lowered. These changes resulted in increased sales to 5,512 vehicles sold in 1922. Up from the previous 150 models sold the previous year, which had led to the hardship that had forced the company into bankruptcy.

In 1923, several different body styles were introduced including a two-passenger roadster and a seven-passenger limousine.

A specially designed police model, known as the Police Flyer was marketed to law enforcement divisions around the country. A special draw was Ford’s willingness to modify the vehicles to suit the needs of police officers in the field. Bulletproof windows were added, spotlights were placed on the sides of the vehicle and gun racks were mounted to the interior section of cars. The cars were also fitted with four-wheel brakes a full two years before they were offered on vehicles meant for private sale. These police cruisers coupled with the success of the four door private sedans allowed the Lincoln division to show a profit margin by the end of 1924 just two years after the company had been pulled from the jaws of bankruptcy.

Most do not realize that Lincoln actually had its beginnings as a company separate from Ford Motor Company. The company was started by Henry Leland in 1917 and named for one of Leland’s heroes, President Abraham Lincoln. Henry Leland had actually been one of the founders of the Cadillac Car Company, which had been the Henry Ford Company. The Lincoln Motor Company was created to build Liberty aircraft engines for the United Stated during World War One. With the end of the war, Leland had the factories retooled to produce automobiles. Ford Motor Company was able to acquire Lincoln in 1922 when the luxury automobile manufacturer encountered severe financial difficulties. Henry Ford was quite pleased to be able to acquire the company from Leland. He viewed it as retribution as Leland had led investors to force Ford out of the Detroit Automobile Company, a company that Ford had founded.

Volvo has always had a reputation for safety, but the 2012 model has been rated even higher than usual, thanks to the recent crash test ratings. The vehicle did very well on all areas, front, side, rear crashes, and rollovers. It also has electronic stability control, which helped it move up a notch. Since previous models weren’t checked by the new, more stringent rules for safety crash tests.

The new Volvo S60 had an impressive resistance when tested for rollovers. In fact, the roof stood up to nearly five times the vehicle’s weight. To put that into perspective, the standard federal regulation is 1.5 times the weight of the vehicle. The Volvo will stand up to some drastic rollovers without causing too much injury to the occupants of the car, thanks to the extra strong roof.
